Tree of Life

The only requirement for this print was that it had to be in an Art Nouveau-esqe style. I have always wanted to illustrate a tree like this, free of all attachment from the earth, and this was the perfect time to do it. The Art Nouveau style did lend itself very well to the illustration.

The print itself uses eight individual colors, divided between three sets of split fountain prints. A mixture of black to a dark silver metallic is the outline, gold/brown to yellow to red is colors of the trunk to the fire and I used dark brown to green to yellow for the roots and the branches of the tree.

Doing it by hand made the registration a major pain, but I had some great happy accidents.
